Provides attendees with a basic appreciation of the signaller’'s role.  Covers the Absolute Block and Track Circuit Block signalling systems, focusing on the key components of railway infrastructure involved in both signalling systems. Examines infratsructure engineering from a signalling perspective and the signaller'’s role in managing SPADs, TPWS activations, adverse weather condidtions and trespass. Electrification of the network is covered and Non-Technical Skills are considered throughout the programme.

Aimed at graduates to give them an overview of the signalling role, as well as an understanding of electrification on the railway.

This course provides an interactive overview of Network Rail Signalling. Sessions will include looking at the history of signalling and an overview of Absolute and Track Circuit Block. Delegates will also learn about Safety Critical Communications, obstructions, trespassing, protection of personnel, signal failures, tabletop exercises and hands on signalling simulator practice.

Intended for audiences interested in learning more about signalling such as future Initial Signalling Training (IST) attendees or those from Train Operating companies.
