Undertake Initial ESR Designs

Course Description

This course is designed for people who design Emergency Speed Restrictions. During the 3 days of training, delegates will complete numerous designs from a variety of scenarios. It has been introduced as a result of a Signal Passed at Danger (SPaD) incident at Wootton Bassett Junction on 7th March 2015. Following this incident, the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB) made a number of recommendations in their report (08/2016).  A key recommendation was that emergency and temporary speed restrictions are designed and implemented in a way which results in clear and correct information being provided to train drivers.

Audience

Anyone undertaking ESR designs in accordance with NR/L3/TRK/7006 Creation and application of initial ESR design. The most likely audience are TME/ATME/SM[T] and Section Supervisor[T] role holders.
