Telecoms for Rail Engineering Fundamentals

Course Description

The overall objective of this telecom engineering fundamentals training is to provide an understanding of the telecom engineering fundamentals including relevant processes, standards, operational and maintenance practices to someone who intends to work in the telecoms discipline in the railway. This training will be recommended to be undertaken as soon as is feasibly possible once an individual starts a telecoms engineering role.  This training does not address any specific roles, operational tasks, or changes to operating models or systems. As part of a learning pathway, successful completion of this training will confirm that individuals have knowledge of telecoms engineering fundamentals and  can progress to more advanced and specialist training. 

Audience

The intended target audience for the engineering induction will be new employees who have the responsibility to perform an engineering, technical or maintenance role on operational telecom systems deployed in the railway. The targeted community for this learning is new starters within Network Rail Telecoms Engineering, and Telecoms Engineering apprentices.
