Course Description
<p>This 10 day course will give participants the background knowledge and understanding and skills required for a signalling engineering designer. Delegates will be instructed in the process of preparing scheme plans, aspect sequence charts and control tables to meet the knowledge and understanding required for The IRSE licence category 1.1.110 Designer (S). Practice plans and control table preparation will be used to reinforce the learning process. Delegates will be introduced to all relevant standards.<br />
Topics covered:<br />
•Development of railway signalling up to current practice<br />
•Simple headway calculations<br />
•Signalling the layout<br />
•Aspect Sequence charts<br />
•Preparation of control tables for automatic signals, routes and points (no swinging overlaps)<br />
Delegates should have previously attended Basic Signalling Technology (or have equivalent experience) or have IRSE Licence Category 1.1.100 Assistant Designer (s). The delegate should also have relevant railway experinece in signalling design or extended experience in a signalling faulting and maintenance role.</p>
Audience
Anyone who is in a signalling engineering assistant designer role and is aspiring to a designer role or to IRSE Licence Category 1.1.110 Designer (S).
